Yes those original BLUM COMPACT 33 hinges with plastic inserts don't last forever BUT same goes for HD&L replacement metal springs. As the 1 star reviews say I agree that it does there is probably a better choice than this NEUBAU hinge. However, I live in a 20 year old house with a lot of these cabinet hinges in very nicely made cabinets that I don't want to rip out. We are now in the second cycle of replacing the most commonly used hinges (like the trash can that sits under the kitchen sink). The first round of exchanges (about 4 door panels) was done with HD's own brand which is now out of service and HD no longer stocks them! So back to the BLUM originals, so that everything is the same throughout the house. 5 stars for a hosiery retailer who splits the 250 packs of BLUM into 10 packs. These are original BLUM COMPACT 33 die cast with correct part number = 33.3600 incl. screw. Please note that there is a counterpart in the kit called the mounting plate that forms a complete loop with many options and then transitions from older to newer options. Don't go there unless you have to - I had to because I have to move the HD version's mounting plate to get its hinge out of my house. Somewhere.
