Yes those original BLUM COMPACT 33 hinges with plastic inserts don't last forever BUT same goes for HD&L replacement metal springs. As the 1 star reviews say I agree that it does there is probably a better choice than this NEUBAU hinge. However, I live in a 20 year old house with a lot of these cabinet hinges in very nicely made cabinets that I don't want to rip out.
