Review on GE Microwave Magnetron Diode WB27X10017 by Bradley Mutha

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works great but installation is a little harder than I expected.

The GE microwave stopped working so I had to either replace the magnetron or buy a new one. With a new microwave oven costing hundreds of dollars and a magnetron/diode combo costing $70, it was worth the effort. I installed the microwave 12 years ago so I knew how to remove it but didn't realize there are many screws to take the microwave apart. Once the covers were removed, replacing the magnetron wasn't too difficult, but it's not for those who aren't mechanically inclined. Also, the old magnetron had an upper temperature limit thermostat and the new one didn't, so I had to connect the wires to the thermostat (to simulate the unit overheating) before reassembling it. This can be confusing for someone unfamiliar with device repair. Once assembled the unit worked flawlessly so overall I think it was a win. Just a little harder than I expected.

Pros
  • Great selection
Cons
  • Hard to say
