Review on Renewed HP Laserjet Pro M28w Wireless Printer with Copy & Scan Smart App Capability - W2G55A by Wiktor Janusz ᠌

A useless product, it's not worth the money.

In general, I took an MFP to connect and use it on a home network that has windows and linux devices. Presetting can only be done from windows system. It will not be possible to configure from a phone or linux system. There are no buttons or menus on the printer itself either. The buttons on the printer are only needed to set up photocopying and print technical information. Software for windows from the manufacturer is very buggy. Constantly crashes with errors and says that nothing could be configured. Although from 2 or 3 times the network still configures, although it says that it was not possible to configure. Even when installing software or in the process of working, it constantly asks to download and install new and new programs that obsessively ask for a bunch of personal data, registration on the manufacturer’s special Internet resources for scanning and printing through the site. I don’t understand how it works, but I don’t want to send my personal data to the manufacturer’s website. Periodically, the printer stops printing, restarting the printer helps. To download software for Linux, you need to follow a bunch of links from the manufacturer's website. After that, some dubious archive with the program is downloaded. After starting the program, she asks in a personal dialog request (not a system one) for the password from root, after which she begins to arbitrarily do some kind of garbage in the system: she removes some system packages via apt-get remove. Then it freezes and no longer responds. The printer itself can be connected to Linux using the ipp protocol. The scanner does not work over the network or over usb with a linux system. Printing from phone to android works, but scanner doesn't.

Pros
  • Compact among MFPs Prints by ipp protocol (if you can set it up) Quite convenient and quickly makes photocopies
Cons
  • Very buggy software (under winodws) Periodically freezes and does not print, you have to reboot Software under Linux does not start at all The scanner does not work on Linux. Collects too much personal data in apps No scanning and printing from USB media Not obvious wifi setting on the printer. There are no proper instructions either.
