Review on Enhanced Garmin GPS Receiver 19x HVS for Next Generation Navigation by John Miller

So my trusty Garmin GPS-17 was struck by lightning and needed a replacement that would work with my old chartplotter. The GPS-19 was really the only choice other than used 17s. Installation of the GPS-19 has shown that it is not an "exact replacement" as many parts vary from connector sizes to mounting brackets. But the "secret ingredient" is to put a speed-limiting resistor (it was included) in the wiring to slow down the data rate. It wasn't clear in the instructions why this should be done, but it turned out to be necessary. The Garmin support guy got me right in seconds. Now he works like a champ!
