Review on πŸ’₯ Enhance Performance with MSD 6421 6AL-2 Ignition Control featuring a 2-Step Rev Limiter by Mark Powell

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The owner of the 94 Toyota MR2 loves it.

I love this box! I bought it for my 1994 Toyota MR2 2.0 NA along with an 8910EIS tachometer adapter and SS blaster coil. After installing it, my car immediately had a different feel - it (my car) started right away, started well and improved handling at all RPM ranges. At low revs it has more traction and is more responsive, and when I start it up (full throttle) it gets where it's going quicker. I've also noticed an improvement in fuel economy, even under extremely vigorous driving conditions. I installed the boxes behind the passenger seat (left hand side of the car in the UK) and routed the cables with the car harness through the large rubber grommet in the firewall. I've heard others say the box is noisy, but my honest take on these observations is that it's really just a small tick synced to the tachometer. it's really minimal and certainly nothing to complain about. After a few thousand miles and several non stop jerks I can say the box worked and made me feel like it was worth it. I was disappointed that I couldn't buy a programmable box (same model with programmable function) from Revain.com in the UK as it would allow me to fine tune the ignition with my laptop. However, with some adjustments and slight tweaks to my mechanical timer and 99 octane fuel available at my local supermarket, I have a noticeable and pleasant "increased" performance :) The rev limiter feature works well and saved me the trouble too to push my car far in red. and the two-step feature almost created a mini launch control feature, which I also really like. MSD customer service could do some tweaking to be a little friendlier, but using MSD to tweak the performance ignition was far from a bad experience.
