I bought this to fix an outlet that reset the alarm every time the fan came on. This helped me diagnose the problem quickly and easily. According to this device, every time the switch next to it was flipped to the on position, the voltage dropped from 120 volts to around 60 volts, which is information you just can't get without one of them. I was able to test all of the other outlets before and after this problematic outlet and saw that everyone else was reading fine. He also diagnosed a cable problem which if I remember correctly got lost. I've used it to test a USB C in an installed O wall outlet to make sure it's reading the correct voltage and to reset the GFI switch a few times (which itself is a handy tool to see if they get bad). If you're doing an outdoor installation at home or working as a handyman and want to make sure everything is hooked up properly, this is the quickest/easiest/safest way to do it. Klein also makes a USB tester, which can also be a fun little gadget.
