My niece has always loved her rice cooker so we were curious. We didn't want anything big since there are only 2 of us so this option seemed like the right choice (not that it couldn't make more rice than two). The instructions are very simple, so it seems easy, right? Not much because there is no information on how to adjust the cooking time, the degree of doneness of the rice, etc. Through trial and error we found that if we didn't soak the rice (which the instructions suggest) we ended up ending. with a very "al dente" rice. It looks like there should be some kind of control for different types of rice - for example, brown rice takes a lot longer to cook than white, but the cook doesn't know what type of rice you used. WARNING: If you are cooking brown rice, DO NOT use this rice cooker as the rice will not cook long enough. We usually complain that the instruments are too complicated, but not in this case. There are absolutely no settings, knobs, controls etc - just ON/OFF. Once you learn how to soak white rice (we use jasmine and/or basmati) you'll be fine, and best of all, you don't have to watch it simmer on the stove! The bad thing is that there is no timer and you have to wait 10 minutes. after completion of the rice cooking cycle to allow the water to be absorbed. Here you are. You need to pay attention to when the red light goes off (meaning it's not actively cooking) and then the 10+ min. timer.
