My teenage son was converting his computer that I built for him many moons ago when he was a little boy. New processor. More drives/SSDs. Now a super duper graphics card. Eventually, the weakness of the original power supply overtook it and it couldn't handle all the stress. When he cranked the graphics up to the maximum, the machine gave up and shut down. Not enough power from the supposedly universal 600W PSU I put in there years ago. So we searched and searched for a power supply and finally settled on this evga 750 gold. Man, this power supply is really sturdy - I mean, it's heavy - it has to be packed with good stuff that can power whatever you've got. Built like a tank. The modularity of the cables is a great feature. No more spaghetti in the box, use only the cables you need. And it's quiet too. However, the fan is not yet audible at high speeds, even when games are running at full speed. Best of all, no more overload trips, the machine now handles everything it has to offer. When I was building a PC back then, the power supply didn't play a role. A different story these days; You need a high-quality power supply that is capable of supplying all power-hungry peripherals with a constant power rating. This EVGA seems to fit that bill and does it well.
