Review on Walker Products 235 1115 Camshaft Position by James Brault

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works and looks just as good as a brand new OEM but cheaper.

Fits like a glove, looks better than the OEM I replaced. This part was listed for my v10 engine - it will not fit Cummins diesel engines. I decided to replace this sensor, the crankshaft sensor (P/N 235-1116) and the MAP sensor because prior to the replacement I had engine RPM pulsations when the engine was warm. You can get these parts to see which ones are bad, but I'm too lazy to do that. This part is on the front of the cylinder block near the crankcase pulley - it is hidden by the water pump - use a 10mm socket wrench to loosen the bolt, start the engine and let it run until the block feels warm. Removal is best done with one of the front wheels lifted and crawling under the front of the truck (allowing more clearance). If you use a small pry bar it should pop out, be prepared to snap the dog's ear on the old one while removing it - hold the tip of a pry bar or large flat head screwdriver near the flange and twist/pry You - the oil on the new o-ring makes it easier to insert. The repair manual lists a small piece of gasket with an adhesive side that is attached to the sensor to ensure optimal clearance between the sensor and prevent contact with the timing chain. I figured marking the old sensor's dog ear on the block worked best since the sensor didn't come with a gasket. Install is the reverse of uninstall, hope this helps.
