Review on 🏷️ Brother Mobile PTE500 Handheld Labeling Tool with USB Interface, Li-ion Battery, Auto Cut, and Carry Case by Reid Rickerson

i like this thing for other office equipment

My employer uses Brother and Brady machines. I was looking for something better than my Dymo Lettratag as it was slow and the tapes didn't stick well to everything I needed to mark. I chose Brother over Brady because I liked the choice of labels for the device and the QWERTZ. I won't hit Brady, unlaminated Brady labels are durable too. Although on each of them consumables can ruin you. The backlight is good, but the keyboard doesn't light up. Which can be a bit annoying in low light. When you print a label, an extra piece will be cut by 1 inch. HE MUST! This is done for the laminated part of the label. So when you create a label, use an extra inch. If you set the machine to chain cut and apply multiple labels, it only does it once and only requires a few extra button presses at the end, saving you an inch. On the other hand, the only other option is to put it on a wide border, which makes the whole label longer and uses more tape. The only thing I don't like: • Not enough clip art selection. (I think I could add them but didn't check.) This is an "industrial machine" but I noticed that a couple of "industrial" clips are missing. The old lettratag had a lot more. • I also don't like the fact that I'm a fat finger on the keys, your mileage can be severely affected. • There is no ribbon selection sticker in the box, I had to download and print an outdated PDF from Sticker Brother. This is the hardest part of defining the labels for this device. The Brothers website isn't great for label selection and Revain will bury you in the selection. Once you find a real TZE card (not LZE compatible stripe card) it will be a walk in the park. I blew about 2 rounds looking into this thing. The preview button helps a lot, but smaller fonts are hard to test with this option. at 0.5 inch All labels worked well. I had a Kingdom label cartridge that had a tiny streak on the band but it was hard to see. When used properly, everything works as it should. I haven't attached it to the outside wall of the house yet to see how it will perform from the outside.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
