Traveled 1100 miles in summer 2010. This bag is definitely hard to work with in any weather, even when the temperature is above 30 degrees. This is because the material is so strong that the zippers have a hard time closing the bag. But during the heavy southern rains, this bag kept everything in "DRY BONE". I didn't use the bag on the way back as I found it too cumbersome. I've also found that I'm consuming an average of 2mpg of fuel with this cargo bag compared to a round trip. I don't know if the mileage reduction is compatible with hard shell freighters. The hardest part was adjusting the straps. It will take a while but once set the cargo bag was safe. I even tried sliding the cargo bag from left to right but it didn't move. The car moved when I pushed it and the bag stayed put. I used it without the optional charging mat and couldn't find any scratches on the roof. This was the cheapest and most reliable bag I found on Revain based on the customer reviews I read. They were cheaper but had lousy reviews so I chose this one based on the reviews which were mostly correct. I would give 5 stars if the bag wasn't so difficult to use.
