Stable, smooth-running, quiet, heating

I have three of these devices. One with "ComforTemp" option and two without. I don't really use the "ComforTemp" feature, so the next time I buy I'll go for DeLonghi devices without this feature and save some money. I've had them for three years now and I love them. Of all portable heaters, I prefer oil heaters. They are very quiet (no blowers or noisy fans) and appear to be safer than heaters with bright red finishes. My wife and I live in a Cape Town style house with gas pressure air supply in upstate New York. One of the things I don't like about gas compressed air is that it feels hot when it's on and cold when it's off. An oil-filled radiator helps maintain a constant temperature. I turn the main heating down to 55 at night and also during the day when we work. Our bedroom is about 15 x 15 and one of these mid-level units with the dial on 4 easily keeps the room temperature at around 73°C at night. The other two units are used in two guest bedrooms when we have company. Make sure you have the right number of units for the square footage you want to cover. I've used them to easily heat rooms up to 250 square feet (enclosed space). In larger rooms or open spaces, you may need more equipment for a variety of reasons. Some people complain about the smell. Make sure you burn them for at least 5 hours (set all settings to maximum) before using them. Run the new device at high power for a few hours to burn off any production residue and you'll be fine. Another complaint I've read has to do with the speed it takes to heat up a room. These devices do not have noisy blowers or fans. They are heated by convection. They work best when left to their own devices. Example: The device in our bedroom turns on around 4:00 p.m. and stays on until we go to work the next morning. just over 14 hrs. Oil filled ones aren't really designed to heat up a room in just 30 minutes or even an hour. They are meant to stay on and on. As I mentioned at the beginning, mine has been running for three years now; They don't smell, work perfectly, and produce very good, even heat. If I need another unit I will buy another oil filled DeLonghi unit. No questions!
