Learn a little, now brew like a champ

When I opened the box, I was pleasantly surprised -- Taped to the top of my test machine were two boxes of capsules and a bag of ground coffee. Little did I know it would come with coffee to get me started. When you look inside the box, it's a nice, compact machine that looks like it will fit in the space I have on the counter - almost the same height as my old Keurig K-40 single-shot machine , just a little wider. After assembling the machine and washing the parts, I was a bit disappointed that such a high-end machine didn't have a reusable filter basket. I need to buy some paper filters at the grocery store before I can brew a pot of coffee grounds. Following the instructions in the accompanying booklet, I set the clock, rinsed the water tank and pot, and began the pot cleaning rinse. The instructions mention that it can take 4 minutes for the pot of hot water to heat up the first time, so I set it up and left to do other things. I came back about an hour later and the white light was still flashing but the water wasn't brewing. I unplugged the machine, reset the clock, and started it again to try to boil a pot of plain water. The water's brewing this time, but there's a strange delay. Maybe there was an air bubble somewhere in the tube? The amount of water in this first test using the eight-cup setting and brewing nearly 9 cups of water? Is it because I had to restart it? I'll run another test drink and see what happens. Test brew #4 on the pod side seemed to work well. The second test pot still poured almost 9 cups. Maybe they take into account the amount of water the coffee grounds will absorb? Once everything is set up, you can simply press the power button and the water will heat up to quickly brew a cup of coffee pod in minutes. .After another trip to the grocery store for paper filters, I set up a coffee maker for brewing. It took about 7 minutes to brew an 8 cup portion of coffee and the water levels in the coffee pot seem correct so it looks like they were responsible for the water remaining in the coffee grounds. If you're using a single-serving pod on the side of the coffeemaker, I like that there are multiple settings for how many ounces you want in your cup, as well as a "strong" button if you fancy a very strong cup. If you're making a cup with pods, the machine heats up quickly when you turn it on, and you'll be making a hot cup of coffee in less than a minute. After a few weeks of use I have to say I really like it and would recommend it to anyone who needs a dual purpose pod machine or a full pot.

Pros
  • Pause and pour: Automatically pauses the coffee in the coffee maker for 20 seconds so you can pour it into the carafe
Cons
  • Can I add something
