Me mastered 3D printing with the Monoprice Select Mini V2 and decided I needed a major upgrade. I have a couple of bigger projects I want to tackle and the Mini just doesn't suit me. This printer is huge! I actually bought a used coffee table to set up. Assembly was also fairly easy - it took me about an hour to attach the frame parts and connect the cables. I like its open-frame aluminum construction. As far as I can tell it's square and doesn't flex when printed. It is also very easy to access stepper motors and belts if required. I could add useful accessories to the frame and it would be easy to do. The printed building guide is missing a few key tips that are shown in Creality's official YouTube videos - I recommend watching them. They helped align the Z axis. I started the car and got the hot section and bed up to temperature. The printer maintains the temperature reliably, but it takes some time for the print bed to heat up the rest of the build area. I like the large leveling knobs and the touchscreen interface isn't terrible. I'm having problems with the Z-Strip. I'm not sure what's causing this, but I know it's not the bed heater. I guess with four straight bars on a Z build platform this won't be a problem, but for some reason it is. Alignment is problematic as the bed is deformed. Check out my screenshot of Octoprint's Bed Visualizer plugin - there is a sink in the middle of the bed. Given that someone can get flatter mirror glass for less than $15, I'm not sure why Creality can't do the same. That's just not acceptable for a $600 3D printer. According to Revane, the seller accepts the return and only refunds the money for the printer. So I have to disassemble and repackage the car! Is it really that hard to just send me a good replacement part instead? This printer gets 3 stars in "as is". It's kind of a disappointment. I expected good print quality with minimal Z stripe out of the box and flatbed. I guess compared to my old cheap mini you don't quite get what you pay for.
