Very cool addition to the KitchenAid mixer

Our KitchenAid mixer was very expensive and I often look for new ways to make this kitchen power tool work. I had never made homemade pasta before and was amazed at how well my first attempt went after adding the Leixe pasta maker. Place oil and 1 tsp garlic salt in a bowl. I used a spatula for the initial mixing and then let the dough hook bang around for 5-10 minutes. Wrapped in plastic wrap, the dough rested for 30 minutes and it was time to test the pasta maker. Right out of the box, the Leixe pasta machine looks like a giant gorilla mountain bike pedal. It is relatively heavy and durable. It easily attaches to a KitchenAid mixer, which drives a square pedal drive shaft, which in turn drives the pedal's internal gears, which drive the rollers and blades. The back opens for easy cleaning and a cleaning brush is included. I manually flattened a piece of dough, set the rollers thickness to 8 and skipped the dough. The rollers quickly pressed the dough into lasagna noodles and I ran it a few more times on the "6" setting to flatten it out even more. Once I was happy with the evenness, I ran it through a pasta cutter and turned everything into spaghetti. The whole experience was fun and easy, including scraping the dried dough off the blades. I look forward to doing this again and using the free pasta recipe e-book advertised in the package. I immediately made what I just made mixed with a little basil, lemon juice and parmesan and my family of four ate it for lunch.
