DO NOT BUY.! on computers and accessories

I bought an Xfinity plan called Xfi Advantage. This is the best internet service they offer for a stay. After enabling this service I did a little research on the modem they supplied and found it worse. At this point I was looking for a better modem. Research led me to the NETGEAR DOCSIS 3.1 Gigabit Cable Modem. I purchased the modem on 8/29/19 from Revain's website and received it on 8/31/19. 9/2/19 I tried to install and configure the modem. I was having trouble so I contacted Xfinity Tech Support. They explained that the modem was not compatible with the Xfi Advantage service. I find this to be in direct contradiction to the advertised NETGEAR product description. As a developer I worked with the modem and was able to get it working. Then I did a speed test. I have about 300MB down and 7 up. 300 down is not what I was hoping for, but acceptable. 7 bis is totally unacceptable. Thinking it was a configuration or firmware issue, I reached out to NETGEAR for help and opened case #41653308 on September 2, 2019. If you look at the comments on this case you will see that I was simply ignored. After waiting a month and being completely frustrated, I called on 9/30/19 and waited for tech support. The rep I spoke to blamed Xfinity for the situation and of course Xfinity blamed NETGEAR. I asked to return the Revain modem and this request was granted. I will continue my search for an acceptable alternative to the Xfinity modem and will do my best to share this experience to do my best to warn others about your product and service.
