The best black plastic doorstop. Or paperweight.

Absolute nonsense. It worked great for a month, now it keeps cutting out. This is the second purchase from Netgear in the last few months that I 100% regret. This product fails in its primary purpose. Keeps you connected to the internet. After going through a hilarious waste of time and rudimentary service I write this off as a lesson learned and will never buy from this company again. So frustrated with the absolute rubbish I paid hundreds of dollars for. This is a great modem if you only need

Pros
  • Nice to use
Cons
  • Communication with seller

After reading all the comments on the firmware I was a bit skeptical. Others have mentioned communication issues with Cox Communications. I noticed in later comments that there was a firmware update that supposedly fixed the problem. When the modem showed up on a lightning deal, I jumped in. After contacting Cox to register the modem, it took a few minutes to show that it was connected to the internet. They were able to see my modem and register it as connected to the network, but my computer…

Great router and very easy registration with Comcast.

Great router and very easy to register with Comcast. This model is endorsed by Comcast and they are not kidding when they say this router is Xfinity certified. The router asked for my Comcast account number (you can find it on your monthly bill) and within seconds it was registered and up and running. I was amazed that registration took less time than my old Comcast modem. It's also backwards compatible with DOCSIS 3.1 and 3.0, so it should last for years to come. This is my first Netgear and…

Reboots are required, but not without reason (Updated 3-11-17)

I disagreed with the reviews I had read and decided to buy this modem. The modem itself is great. After some searching a problem was found with firmware 2.01.14 and it is believed that Netgear on Cox and Comcast will update to 2.01.15. I called Comcast and they said they don't have any information on this update yet. The firmware issue is causing the T3 and T4 timeouts. I hope they fix this. I was very happy that the modem did what it was supposed to do. Update 2-15-17 I rebooted this morning…

  • Handy thing

DO NOT BUY.! on computers and accessories

I bought an Xfinity plan called Xfi Advantage. This is the best internet service they offer for a stay. After enabling this service I did a little research on the modem they supplied and found it worse. At this point I was looking for a better modem. Research led me to the NETGEAR DOCSIS 3.1 Gigabit Cable Modem. I purchased the modem on 8/29/19 from Revain's website and received it on 8/31/19. 9/2/19 I tried to install and configure the modem. I was having trouble so I contacted Xfinity Tech…

3 months warranty tells all you need to know about Netgear products

So I decided to get rid of my ISP gear and finally got this along with SG-2220 with pfSense, managed 8 port PoE switch and Ubiquiti AP AC Lite. This thing lasted about a month before it started dropping my WAN connection multiple times a day. At first I thought my firewall was catching bad packets and dropping the connection, but after looking at the logs it turned out that the modem was just repeatedly dropping the WAN connection for no apparent reason. I was troubleshooting this issue for…

Xfinity Employee Review

I'm a Comcast employee. As a consumer, I might look at this with a little prejudice towards my employer. I feel like I should be up front in my rating. I can confirm that this modem is on our *approved* list of modems that work with our service. That's why I chose this modem, and also because speeds over 300MB/s require a Docsis 3.1 modem. Otherwise, a cheaper Docsis 3.0 modem would do. I bought this modem to replace my XB6 (wireless router for gigabit customers). I've always had my own Netgear

Pros
  • nice touch
Cons
  • upgradeable

How to get MAXIMUM speed from your gigabit internet (I have Xfinity)

I don't often write reviews, but I want to help my geek friends save themselves the days of research and frustration I went through to finally get the best speed out of my gigabit internet. There are several gold nuggets here that you need to know about. When I first upgraded to the new gigabit here in Denver (from Xfinity) he was using their new cable modem/router (XB6-A) and I only got 500MB download. Speed. It also hung around our house when a few people were playing and other were…
