Use 84 days for camping

Like the other reviewers, I have a furry friend. My 14 year old border collie mix who I take on camping trips. (She'd rather stay home, but that's a dog's life.) When we camp, she doesn't really drink enough water when I use camping potable water. This filter eliminates water taste and odor problems. Drinking water supply on campsites. I'm not particularly concerned since wells in Washington state are regularly checked, but I do worry if my senior dog isn't drinking enough water. Why only 4 stars? As others have noted, the lid leaks when pouring when there is water in the top compartment. I solved this problem by keeping it simple and filling regularly and ONLY watering when DONE, filtering. (Room temperature water is better for my pup than cold water anyway.) Also. and here is my main meat. The sensor only seems to determine the time from the reset. It's also supposed to recognize the time in the pour position, but I'm not sure if my trailer screwed it up or what. In fact, I received it at the end of April, and at the end of June the lights started to go out. (i.e. almost daily for 2 months.) Since I only take it on hikes I'm IMPOSSIBLE to filter out anywhere around the 40 gallons. Based on my math on napkins it would take about 7+ fills a day (every day) since I got it for me to filter out 40 gallons. I think I fill it up about 2-4 times a day while camping and I've only been camping with it for about 30 days. So let's give them the benefit of the doubt and say I poured it 5 days in 30 days, so 150 cups? So. Basically about 10 gallons? (Note: 1 quart or 4 cups will fit in the top - that's what I mean by fill. The other 3 cups in the top never "fill" due to a lid leaking issue.) Now. I think the best way to know when I really need to change the filter is if it takes more than 2 hours to "process".

Pros
  • Looking forward to
Cons
  • The list is getting long.
