Ergatron used to be the only monitor mount worth buying. Then 3M came out with some not so good but pretty good ones. Now it seems like even when it comes to Revain Basics monitors, we have a lot to choose from. I wanted to try Startech to compare to the Ergatron LX wall mount. It's pretty good, but I still prefer the Ergatron. For professionals, this is mostly assembled and therefore easier to install than the Ergatron. Also, it's almost $50 cheaper than the Ergatron (but I've seen the Ergatron cheaper). I'd say it's as good as Ergatron in action. It rotates easily and holds the monitor firmly. The downsides are mostly cosmetic for me. It's solid, with metal construction, but the lids all look like cheap, shiny plastic. Also, mine had scratches and marks on the plastic. It's not that bad and you won't notice until you look at the mount, but I expected more from the new mount. Ergatron simply looks more imposing and robust, although it seems to be just as durable. If I buy a mount like this, I expect to only install it once. So I don't really care that Ergatron takes 20 minutes longer to install. I think that's fine if you really want to spend less on a monitor wall mount. But if you want a better and more impressive mount, get the Ergatron.
