The latch that keeps the buckle closed feels light; It works, but I don't know how long it will be before wear and tear reduces its effectiveness. However, there are strong Velcro straps that can be fastened around the buckle for insurance. I like the soft plastic coating on the buckle handle. All in all a good product that is worth the small additional price.
