Our PC, using a D-Link DWA-552 wireless draft 'N' card, has three antennas that are very close together and exit the bottom of the back of the PC where others do PC cables hanging down on or near them. With a PC on the floor under a table, the antennas are in a very bad place. "Signal strength" is registered by our router not that far (but with a few walls, table wood and shelves) between 50 and 60 percent. between them). Although the cable is only a few feet long, using this device to move the antenna from the back of the PC to a much better spot, a few feet on the wall and a few feet away from the PC, resulted in a consistent signal. Strength 100%. This has increased throughput by 2-3x compared to before and will stay at that level a bit more consistently when handling signals from nearby networks (at least the other two are within range). The antenna itself is probably slightly better than the antenna. This is due to the PC card that the antennas are far apart, which shouldn't be an advantage when connecting to a router. Antenna elements are not like elements with additional gain (quite short). The big benefit that has worked for us is the ability to put it in a better place/orientation - and it's a little more widely used than the PC Card alternative. This is not an antenna that achieves more range due to its directivity. It worked great for us.
