I connected two PCs to a new 2K monitor. This is one of the cheapest 2560x1440 monitors you can buy. BenQ gw2765ht. The monitor works best with DisplayPort connections. I've tried using HDMI with my Windows PCs and it works, but the brightness and contrast are crazy. Light gray on white (like menu highlighting) is completely invisible. So I'm saying that my monitor requires a DisplayPort connection. So I bought a KVM switch that uses DisplayPort exclusively. My gaming PC has a DisplayPort connector, so it's fine. But my desktop doesn't fit in because it's a tiny micro form factor Alienware device. Rear only HDMI. The answer to that question was the beauty of the cable. It turns an HDMI port into a DisplayPort port and works flawlessly. I connected it to my Alienware and then attached a KVM DisplayPort and BOOM cable to it. works absolutely perfect. The image on the monitor is crystal clear and pixel-perfect. There is no indication that signaling or anything like that is taking place. It just works. It's quite expensive as a tiny little cable, but my goodness, it works exactly as I hoped it would.
