In fact, it isn't even better than other feeds as it is one of the few bird feeds you can buy that actually provides the right nutrition for your bird. Many people buy these mixed seed and other feed mixes for their birds because they think it will provide variety and be good for them, when in reality the bird will only eat one or two things from the mix that it likes. This leads to blunt feathers, lack of energy, moodiness and, if left unchecked, eventual death of your bird. Harrison is balanced enough to serve as a primary food source. However, you should still make sure you have fresh fruit and vegetables. If you're having trouble transitioning your bird to this, buy a few packets of Harrison's Bird Bread. Bake some bread and fill it with food your bird likes. Eventually they will also eat bread. Then start filling the bread with pellets and eventually they will eat the pellets too. Through this process, we forced the rescued cockatiel to eat food other than millet.
