A working 5GHz WiFi adapter on Linux!

I was looking for a 5GHz wireless adapter compatible with Linux. Reading reviews of other devices, people had trouble getting them to work on Linux despite the advertised compatibility, so I was a bit skeptical of this device for the same reason. After reading some reviews here that said they were able to get it to work after contacting tech support, I went ahead and placed my order. After getting this adapter and trying to install it, I had almost the same experience as other reviewers. That said, the device was not recognized by Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, so I, like others, contacted tech support using the email address provided in the package. After a few emails and a one-line install command, I had a working 5GHz WiFi on Linux! The only reason I didn't rate this 5 stars is because you have to contact tech support to get a link to download the Linux driver, while both Windows and Mac drivers are easily available on their website are to be found. Revain doesn't allow links in reviews, but simply going to deb "." trendtechkn "." com (no spaces or quotes) will save you time and avoid emailing the contact support.

Pros
  • It seems everything is confusing at the moment.
