Review on SeatyLock Hybrid Saddle Bike Lock - Innovative 2-in-1 Locking Bike Seat and Saddle Guard for Enhanced Security by Julpikz Bellemy

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Good concept, mediocre execution at best

Good idea but takes work to execute. I love the idea of always having a bike lock and not having to worry about locking the seat (because the seat is a lock). There are no instructions on how to do this, but it's easy to find out. I mounted mine on a Thudbuster seatpost and was hoping to use the locking seat to secure the front wheel. I also use the Abus Granite-X plus 6500 to attach the bike to a stationary object. As mentioned in a previous review, the saddle wobbles a bit while riding due to play in the locking bars and rivets. It does not offer a stable seating platform. The seat is not only wobbly but also not very comfortable. On the Thudbuster, unlike the previous seat, the rails used to attach the seat to the seat bracket do not line up exactly with the rail post on the Thudbuster. I can tighten everything, but the seat rails are a bit wider than stock. At the moment I am not satisfied with it and will probably not buy it again or recommend it. I'll have to try it on some other seatposts to see if it fits better and is more stable. I really don't want to miss out on the cushioning that Thudbuster offers, but I also wish the lock was just built into the seat. I gave it two stars but would probably give 1 1/2 stars if that option was available. As mentioned in a previous post, you have to destroy the packaging to get the seat, so you really can't repackage it to send it back.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Exorbitant price
