Review on 🌬️ Aerostar Pleated MERV 13 16X25X1: High-Performance Air Filter for Improved Indoor Air Quality by Evan Hernandez

I recently had the opportunity to install them in my home. I have a 12x24 return on a 2 ton package. I know this only allows 600 cfm of the required 800 cfm needed for the system to function properly. I just haven't bothered to raise it yet. Well, that's out of the way. The filters are properly rated because the air flowing through them is properly filtered. Unfortunately, as mentioned, they are too small for a 12x24 return grill. I expected them to be a bit short, but they are very short. So undersized, in fact, my inverted grille is whistling now. The hissing comes from the edges of the filter, which means the air is going around the filter and not being filtered at all. I'm going to remove those filters and put in something that fits snugly and doesn't allow air to bleed around them Not sure what they had in mind when designing it. If the entire purpose of the filter is to filter ALL the air going back into the system, then the filter needs to fit properly. 12 x 24 is a common size and the manufacturer should know and test the filters to ensure they fit properly. MERV 13 means nothing if air can bypass them. I'm quite disappointed, loved the excellent air filtration as I just installed the system, it's a variable speed system and the whistle was noticeable at low speed, I didn't test it at high speed but I think it will be even worse from experience.
