Poor quality, low airflow, noisy, weak

I have bought many air filters in my time and this one was very disappointing. I usually buy the best 3M filters and have always been very happy with them, but I chose these Aerostar filters to save some money. That was definitely a mistake. These Aerostar filters are loose fitting, thin and reduce airflow by at least 50%. When air first appeared after installing the Aerostar filter, I immediately noticed 4 things: 1) It was so thin that the filter literally buckled as air was pulled through…

Pros
  • Very good value for money
Cons
  • Exorbitant price

HVAC Specialist Here

I recently had the opportunity to install them in my home. I have a 12x24 return on a 2 ton package. I know this only allows 600 cfm of the required 800 cfm needed for the system to function properly. I just haven't bothered to raise it yet. Well, that's out of the way. The filters are properly rated because the air flowing through them is properly filtered. Unfortunately, as mentioned, they are too small for a 12x24 return grill. I expected them to be a bit short, but they are very short. So…

Pros
  • Great for me
Cons
  • No Instructions

Great alternative to 3M Filtrete filters

I have purchased Aerostar MERV 13 filters in sizes 20x30x1, 14x30x1 and 12x12x1 for my HVAC systems. For comparison, I have always used 3M Filtrete filters in red packaging. They are rated at 1000 or 1085 MPR, which is closer to a MERV rating of 11. Here are some things to look out for: Each Aerostar filter has been clearly labeled with its nominal size, actual size, and MERV rating. The filters do not print brand information. In all cases, Aerostar filters have the same or more pleats than 3M…

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Thin
