Review on 🌬️ Aerostar Pleated MERV 13 16X25X1: High-Performance Air Filter for Improved Indoor Air Quality by Justin Pavelko

I have purchased Aerostar MERV 13 filters in sizes 20x30x1, 14x30x1 and 12x12x1 for my HVAC systems. For comparison, I have always used 3M Filtrete filters in red packaging. They are rated at 1000 or 1085 MPR, which is closer to a MERV rating of 11. Here are some things to look out for: Each Aerostar filter has been clearly labeled with its nominal size, actual size, and MERV rating. The filters do not print brand information. In all cases, Aerostar filters have the same or more pleats than 3M filters. In addition, the wire and cardboard frames of Aerostar filters are stronger than those of 3M filters. Finally, the Aerostar filter media appears to be denser than the 3M filter media as it lets less light through. In theory, I would expect Aerostar filters to perform better if there wasn't a more subtle difference in the filter media. Regardless of the actual printed dimensions, Aerostar filters are always 1-3mm smaller in every dimension compared to 3M filters. Filter. When installing 3M filters, I have always found that they run a bit large, so I usually have to push the filter frame a bit to install it. As a result, it's doubtful air can bypass the filter, and the filter only moves when I pull hard to remove it.- When installing the Aerostar 20x30x1 filter, it stayed pressed firmly against the vent frame and didn't fall off of the ceiling even with the HVAC fan off and the grate open. If the filter wobbled a little, it would fall off. In other words, it wasn't sealed like a 3M filter. When installing the Aerostar 12x12x1 filter, it did not fit snugly against the deflector frame. I had to insert it and close the grille to keep it in place. Despite this, I didn't hear any movement of the filter when the fan was turned on or off. When installing the Aerostar 14x30x1 filter it was just as tight against the 3M filter. Just use double sided tape to secure them as needed. I'm happy with that considering how much I've saved by buying 3M filters. For reference, actual dimensions on 3M filters are 501mm x 755mm x 20mm, 349mm x 755mm x 20mm and 298mm x 298mm x 20mm. For comparison, the actual dimensions printed on the Aerostar filters are 502mm x 756mm x 19mm, 352mm x 759mm x 19mm and 298mm x 298mm x 19mm. Regardless of the dimensions printed, actual dimensions may not match exactly as stated, as explained above. The 20x30x1 and 12x12x1 sizes were supplied direct from Revain, while the 14x30x1 size was supplied by Air Filters Delivered. The filters sent by Revain were received in perfect condition as they were double boxed. Filters supplied by Air Cleaner were slightly dented and deformed.
