Review on SunSun HW-704B 525 GPH 5-Stage External Canister Filter with 9W UV Sterilizer: Superior Sun Filtration Solution by Crystal Mack

After reading some reviews on Revain and watching some YouTube videos about the SunSun HW-704(B), I decided to buy it for my 30 gallon aquarium for sale. The device was shipped quickly and arrived in good condition. It looks like SunSun also checked the quality of the canister for leaks as the filter sponge was slightly damp. I am very happy with it and bought another a few months later for a new 50 gallon tank. Although I only use it once or twice a week, it's good to have a UV sterilizer to sanitize the water. Some people have issues with light-damaging plastic shells, but that only seems to be an issue when the light is on all the time. I didn't see this as a flaw, but I took note as the heat from a light source that is close to the plastic can cause it to degrade over time. There's also a little indicator on the top of the canister that tells me it's working. The build on this one seems pretty good. The outside of the canister is sturdy and fits between the legs of my 29 and 40 gallon Petco metal Imagitarium coasters. The green hose can be attached to the inlet and outlet by softening the hose - simply dip each end in hot boiled water for a few seconds before fitting onto one of the canister nozzles. Once it cools, the hole shrinks, forming a tight seal. I haven't had any leakage issues with this method. Please note that there is a round orange sticker at the bottom of the canister. Use this as a guide when putting the baskets back in. Make sure the orange sticker lines up with the holes in the baskets. This will ensure the light is positioned correctly for the UV light to work. This is a small but thoughtful touch on the part of the manufacturer. The device is pretty quiet. If you're used to the sound of a canister filter, you'll likely enjoy the sound deadening of this canister filter, depending on how you set up the return pipe. The snorkel on my tank is set to drain water back into the tank below the water level to minimize splashing noise. When I had questions about the canister, I contacted the seller, who responded quickly and helped me further. I am very satisfied with my purchase and customer service and would not hesitate to buy a filter from this seller again.
