Great absorption! - quickly and thoroughly with minimal soldering tip contact (technique is important here ;-). I've only used it for through components (not for surface mount). Some people complain that the braid "doesn't absorb moisture" - I don't know what kind of iron they use, but I have a temperature controlled Edsyn. . The high quality of the tool is decisive. I tried a whole #3 coil while troubleshooting an old sold HF transceiver (owner swapped power draw). So if you intend to use a lot, buy in bulk as it's significantly cheaper.
