Review on Genuine Hyundai 82651-3K000 Exterior Door Handle Assembly - Reliable and Authentic Hyundai Part by Joe Meyer

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy to fix, but the handle is black so you can paint it your car's color for an additional $30.

Easy to install (find a video on youtube) Remove the black accessory connector then I measured and cut the PVC pipe shaft to make a sleeve and taped it in place so that Don't miss him 1 screw you need to remove to get the damn end cap off, I used a long extension, maybe 10" long, plus a socket wrench. Then CAREFULLY loosen the screw to remove the end cap that attaches to the door and holds the doorknob in place (tip: I even put a metric nut on the end screw just to be safe in case the PVC - pipe ruptures). Then forcefully push/pull the old handle back to where the end cap was screwed on. You will reverse the process to install the new handle (don't forget to add the white plastic clip that came with the new handle; that's probably what broke and is in the door for good and a day now) . The new handle is black but I wanted it to match my other doorknobs so I needed a custom color so I called around and found an O'Reilly auto parts store across town who would give me a spray can ( (e.g. $30 which seemed a bit high to me) to match the color of the doors on my Sonata (slate grey/blue). I used the color code from my Sonata nameplate on the driver's door pillar. I'm sure there are many other auto parts stores that have the same specific paint matching equipment (you just have to call your city). I also chose to paint BOTH the new doorknob and the old endcap (since no one can make a 100% perfect color match and these 2 parts (doorknob and endcap) are so close together on the door). BOTH sprayed. let dry, wet sand, coat with clear coat, dry again, sand lightly, dry a little more and ready for reinstallation. Place the new handle in the door slot, then slide the new handle OFF the end cap (end screw) and test the handle for resistance. Finally, use the long extension and the front of the coupler inside the PVC pipe to tighten the end cap screw. Hey, you just saved about $150-$200 depending on whether you paint the handle or just leave it black.

Pros
