Review on πŸ’§ Maximize Efficiency with Extech 42270 Temperature Humidity Datalogger by Shane Jess

This may disappoint you very much

I chose this recorder because of its flexibility to control different time frames and because the device can withstand different conditions. The ad I saw when ordering this unit shows a blue base with a 9 pin connector. So I also ordered an adapter cable to convert it to a USB port. The device I received was a basic gray device with a USB cable. No adapter required. I'm having software problems on my Windows XP laptop. The communications software portion of the Extech basic communications program allows the user to select which COMM port number to use. The number you select must match the USB port number your computer assigned to the USB port you are connecting to. BUT it is limited to COMM ports 1 through 8. If your computer's USB ports are numbered higher and you don't have the computer skills to change them, it can get very frustrating. I struggled to set it up for my first recording. I use it to monitor a 7 month session and take readings at hourly intervals. It can record and seems reliable but a software update to allow the user to select ports after 8 through say port 12 would be a needed improvement before I consider buying this again.
