They've performed brilliantly throughout the summer season, but there's little difference between the three devices recording in the same conditions (+/- 4 degrees; this may seem finicky, but when you're using them for scientific research you want accurate data recording ). I chose this recorder because of its flexibility to control different time frames and because the device can withstand different conditions. The ad I saw when ordering this unit shows a blue base with a 9 pin connector. So I also ordered an adapter cable to convert it to a USB port.
