4K Rules - Easy Setup Follow Me As I Take You Down the Yellow Brick Road

Don't be taken back by the fact that this is an NVR Network Video Recorder because it works great through your PC (thank goodness) as well as the app on your phone. Let me guide you through the setup which makes it a no brainer. I was concerned after reading the directions, but I am not concerned anymore.By the way I have resolved myself that if a network camera isn't 4K then I am going to skip it. Why? Because even though 1080P looks great like when you change the default on most cameras from 720P to 1080, when you zoom in like across the street to my neighbors 4K rules. It's really clear even at a distance. Okay, enough of the review. Let me walk you through the setup. This comes with separate wires for all kinds of options. Like if you want to use a separate microphone or speaker. They have RCA style jacks for that. What no talking through a micro dot speaker, and mic, but rather a full-sized shotgun mic, and big boom speaker of your choosing. Yup, you have that option. You can also power it directly, but for me, I am using the PPOE switch which provides Power Over Ethernet so one cable is all that is needed.1. So, if you are using a PPOE switch or router you simply hook up a standard ethernet cable to it. Done.2. Go into your browser and use the cameras default IP which is 192.168.1.108 (you can change that if you want)3. Up comes the menus. Country/region. I chose United States, it automatically fills in the language: English, and video standard NTSC.4. Next page is the date format. I left the default YYY MM DD and then chose my time zone, and you update the current time by clicking on "sync PC".5. Next screen you set your password. The default user name is admin which you can change if you wish, and you insert your password as well as an email address so they can help you recover your password if you should lose it.6. Now you are taken to a screen with a QR code. Use your cell phone to scan it to download the app. If you don't already have a QR scanner in your phone, yes, another app, then get one, they are forever more frequently being used. The name of the app is "Easy Viewer Lite". By using the QR code you are sure to get the right one. The app is rated 4.3 stars with over 500k downloads. Leave the box checked for auto check for updates.7. Then sign in with the username, and password you just created.8. Now you are in the app where you can click on "Search device". It scans, and asks you once again to use the QR code, but this time it is the one on the bottom of the camera providing the serial number, or you can input it manually. Create an input device name. You will notice by the way the app has an NVR option when adding a device, so if you plan on using an NVR there is the magic to make it happen. Okay onward with the camera setup.9. After you are done filling out that window in the app including verifying your user’s name and password, up comes the live camera view on your phone. WOW what a crystal-clear picture. You can also view the camera's screen by typing in the default IP of 192.168.1.108 in your browser, or whatever you changed the IP address to if you used that option in setup, and you have not only the live view picture but there is also a wide range of menu options. So, for example if you want to zoom into your neighbor’s bedroom across the street, you can even fine tune the picture, or use the auto focus instead. Of course, I am kidding about that. These security cameras for the most part, and wisely so use a wide-angle lens, so you can capture the maximum amount of activity rather than focusing on a pin hole. So consequently, what you see on your PC is not as maximized as if you were looking out the window. This is not a military grade monoscope. So, wrapping this up. I really like this because setup was easy and intuitive, which at first glance didn't appear that way interpreting the instructions. I love the 4K at 8MP. So, this gets 5 stars.
