My spouse bakes wonderful "french baguette" style bread and the cheap bread knife we already owned was not up to the combination of crusty exterior and soft interior of her delightful home baked bread. After reading several reviews I settled on this knife as a good balance between cost and performance. I have not been disappointed. It "saws" cleanly through the crusty exterior without tearing the soft interior. If you are not careful, it will saw into the surface of your wooden cutting board. I had to learn to lift the bread and tilt in on side edge to finish cutting through the bottom crust, without cutting into the cutting board. I recommend this knife and would buy again if I needed to have one at a second location.
