Dissapointing bad material in handle?

the presentation of this cleaver is very nice, well-boxed and wrapped. the finish and edge are good enough, but the scales (wooden side pieces) of the handle have either shrunk or were sanded too much, so that the tang and rivets are proud (protruding). the edges of these protrusions are extremely sharp and make holding the cleaver very uncomfortable and even possible leading to abrasion or cuts. A shame, since otherwise the knife is a great deal and beautiful to look at, just not usable as is.

Pros
  • This knife is very sharp. It cut through a steak like it was butter.
Cons
  • Requires frequent sharpening

Works well for the price

I got this as a Christmas present for my girlfriend because she's been looking for a good knife like this for a while, and she absolutely loves it. For the price, I don't think you can go wrong.

Pros
  • The size and quality of this knife is outstanding.
Cons
  • Not recommended for use on delicate food items

Quality item. on my review.

I have been collecting knives for over 60 yrs. and I know quality when I see it. The only problem I can foresee is that the handle might be too slippery.time will tell.

Pros
  • This knife is great for vegetables!
Cons
  • May not be suitable for those who prefer a longer blade length

Loved it so much I bought more.

I am so impressed by this line of knives. I bought the paring knife first. The handle is perfect for me. The balance and quality of the blade is wonderful. I loved it so much I purchased two more, this 10" chef and a 5" utility. Outstanding value.

Pros
  • 1. PERFECTED CHOPPER KNIFE: The Black Hawk Heavy-Duty 6-inch Chopper Knife is perfect for breaking down larger piece of meats and chopping, dicing and mincing tough vegetable with ease while the deep blade allows you to use it as a food transfer. Featuring special-forged high-carbon German stainless steel with a precise vacuum heat-treatment and nitrogen cryogenic tempering at 56+ Rockwell hardness, it improves flexibility and lasting performance.
Cons
  • May not be suitable for those who prefer a serrated edge

Same knives as Too?

I believe that Wallop and Too are the same company and sell the same knives. Wallop seems to be the more expensive. Be sure to do your own comparison.

Pros
  • This is the sharpest knife I've ever owned. This is definitely my go to before my other knives.
Cons
  • Pins already coming loose in handle despite immediate hand wash/dry and storage in box!

Nice and solid knife that appears to be up for the task.

For deboning meats in preparation for making sausage. Haven't had to use it yet but it appears to be a solid knife for the job and very sharp.

Pros
  • This has quickly become my favorite kitchen tool. Great knife, great price.
Cons
  • May not be suitable for those who prefer lighter-weight knives

Very nice paring knife!

I like the heavy, full handle on this paring knife. Much more comfortable for my large hands when cutting than the skinnier/thinner handles on many knives. Nice weight and feel to it. Not to mention slices and dices with ease. It also comes with a cloth.Definitely would recommend this product for personal use or a gift. It does come in a very nice box if thinking about it for gifting.

Pros
  • Cuts straight across and chops vegetables and fruits very well.
Cons
  • Cannot be used to slice tomatoes or other soft fruits

Love this knife! on my review.

I needed new knives in the kitchen and purchased this one. Very nice comfortable handle, and very sharp blade. It makes slicing so easy. The knife came with a microfiber cloth which I keep the knife wrapped in while not in use in a drawer. Very happy with this purchase.

Pros
  • Product is well designed, comfortable grip and super sharp enough for professional use.
Cons
  • Blade may be too thick for some users' preferences

Great blade, too heavy

Lovely knife, beautiful packaging. Sharp, like it a lot, however, it is NOT well balanced, too heavy in the handle. Thanks for attention.

Pros
  • Beautiful work of art.
Cons
  • May be too heavy for some users

Quality steel, razor sharp

Bought this for my wife. She has smallish hands and the weight distribution between blade and grip is just perfect for her hands. It's a very high-quality steel that is easy to maintain razor sharp. A couple of "licks" on a sharpening steel puts the blade back to razor sharp and ready for the next task whether chopping, slicing or mincing.

Pros
  • This is a BIG knife! Very sturdy and easy to use.
Cons
  • Handle may feel slippery if hands are wet

Excellent Bread knife

My spouse bakes wonderful "french baguette" style bread and the cheap bread knife we already owned was not up to the combination of crusty exterior and soft interior of her delightful home baked bread. After reading several reviews I settled on this knife as a good balance between cost and performance. I have not been disappointed. It "saws" cleanly through the crusty exterior without tearing the soft interior. If you are not careful, it will saw into the surface of your wooden cutting board. I

Pros

Cons
  • May not be suitable for those who prefer a non-slip handle material

Poor quality in my review

Do yourself a favor and do not buy this. I would give this zero stars if I could. The handle is just awful. I can't believe they let this be sold.

Pros
  • I have only use this knife once but it's sliced my pork chops with ease
Cons
  • Not suitable for cutting through harder materials like metal or stone

Negative Meh - my new review

The handle is a problem area, the rivets are sharp and raised and the scales are resessed from the tang so there are sharp areas. So far the blade is fine.

Pros
  • Muy bueno
Cons
  • May require more maintenance than other knives

Bad QC sharp knife on my review.

Got for 20$ but the rivers do protrude and as a consumer it makes u feel like it could have been built alittle better . However the shape and knife sharpness is great!

Pros
  • and cheap enough you can drop it without having a heart attack.
Cons
  • May not have the specialized features necessary for professional use

Returned for replacement. BOTH were garbage.

The Nakiri is not worth buying. Both had the same problem with the handle having such poor fitment that it was cutting my hand. Not the blade, the handle was sharp and painful.

Pros
  • Very good edge & comfortable grip. Metal a little thin & time will tell if holds it edge.
Cons
  • May be too large for storage in some kitchen drawers

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Bad handle - my new review

The wood in the handle is too small - the metal parts of the handle stick out past the wood, making the knife uncomfortable to hold/use.

Pros
  • Kitchen & Dining
Cons
  • Handle may warp or crack if exposed to extreme temperatures

Stainless steel cutter

Western-style knife for cutting meat is easy to use. The size is right. The handle can be grasped and feels good. Because it is stainless steel for easy maintenance. You can wrap sushi at home. The price will not be expensive.

Pros
  • Home & Kitchen
Cons
  • May be too heavy for extended use in outdoor or camping situations

Safe and sharp: my feedback

The best knife I’ve ever used and I’m picky because I like a knife that’s works and that’s not to big nor pointy, this one is so perfect ✨😀

Pros
  • Top of the line asian chef knife! Great price!
Cons
  • Blade may rust if not properly cared for

Great value. good for me

Great value, decent steel for the money. I’ve bought four of these as gifts and kept one for myself. It’s my most used knife. You could pay $50 more and not get a better Chinese cleaver.

Pros
  • Bread Knives
Cons
  • May not be suitable for those on a tight budget
