I really wanted to like these ladder type shelters but my canaries pecked and pecked at them until they fell off where they were pinned to the corner of the cage - thank god not a single bird got hurt. Canaries are always picky and also very curious, so we decided not to throw them away but to fix them up so that they can be used. I threaded the zip ties through the holes and attached one to the corner of the cage. Now he has a happily breeding female canary who has built her nest in it instead of the usual canary nest which I hung in the far corner. I think she wanted a little more privacy. I photographed a nest that is still in ruins so you can see how destructive these little birds can be, but I don't think they can chew through the ligaments. Well, maybe this product is a little more useful than I thought. I only give 3 stars because the product could be dangerous.
