Review on Efficient Salt and Gourmet Peppercorn Grinder - PepperMate Traditional Pepper Mill 723 (White) by James Gregg

Great replacement for my old favorite pepper grinder

About 30 years ago, Jeff Smith of the Frugal Gourmet Show on public TV recommended a brass Turkish coffee grinder as his favorite pepper grinder. I bought one and it has served me well ever since. The grind was easy to set and convenient to grind in the attached hopper. But this thing is tall and thin, so I knocked it over almost every day for 30 years. And metal grinding surfaces wore out over decades, reducing performance. So, little by little and reluctantly, I entered the pepper mill market. Eventually, a search turned up a traditional PepperMate pepper grinder, and I bought it. I wasn't sure a plastic coffee grinder could replace my favorite wind instrument, and I didn't have a "TV Cook" endorsement. But this grinder also has an easy-to-adjust grind, and the function is easier to adjust, ranging from really, really fine grinds to coarse steak seasoning. It also has an attached funnel that makes measuring freshly ground pepper easy. And it's not a meter high! I haven't knocked it over yet - what a blessing for this kitchen bumpkin! Retired for safer kitchen decor, this old brass arch has been replaced with a lighter, shorter and more powerful traditional PepperMate pepper grinder. These ceramic sharpening knives should last longer than the steel knives that have stood the test of time. If that's true, she'll outlive me by a long shot! I highly recommend this pepper mill!
