BEST Spice/Pepper Mill

I can't say enough good things about this pepper mill. First, Ina Garten uses this. That should be enough, but if it isn't, here are its great features: - Ability to grind any spice (I have one for black pepper and will be ordering another one soon to share with other whole spices). - Clean, minimalist design. it looks great on the counter - The bottom tray is clean so you can see how much you've chopped. Tray won't wobble or fall out (I use mine several times a day). Coming from the world of…

It's a pepper mill!

This grinder grinds pepper well. A few thoughts: There is a jar attached to the base that allows you to pre-shred the peppers and sift them for a more controlled distribution. I'm not entirely sure if this is necessary, I usually grind the pepper right over the food, although it has a fairly wide splatter area, so it's best to chop closer to the food. - It might be a little subjective, but I feel the pepper from this grinder is a bit stronger than the disposable grinder I'm used to. Is it the…

This is the BEST pepper grinder ever!

I bought my first Peppermate when I saw that Ina Garten, the barefoot countess was using it, so I thought it was a good investment. Twelve years later and it still works great! I recently bought a bag of Himalayan Pink Salt and it needed its own grinder so I bought another Peppermate. I'm sure it will last as long as the first one. I like that they aren't too heavy like most pepper mills, which means they aren't easily knocked over. Also, they're so easy to fill, easy to hold, and seem easier…

Great replacement for my old favorite pepper grinder

About 30 years ago, Jeff Smith of the Frugal Gourmet Show on public TV recommended a brass Turkish coffee grinder as his favorite pepper grinder. I bought one and it has served me well ever since. The grind was easy to set and convenient to grind in the attached hopper. But this thing is tall and thin, so I knocked it over almost every day for 30 years. And metal grinding surfaces wore out over decades, reducing performance. So, little by little and reluctantly, I entered the pepper mill…
