Review on Zyliss Smoothslizer Vegetable Spiralizer Interchangeable by Nadia Miller

Very disappointing - kitchenware and gadgets

I've been a fan of the Zyliss for a very long time. In fact, one of the first reviews I wrote here was of their ice cream scoop, which was very good, and I wanted to remember the company's name. That was about 20 years ago. Since then I have read a book about their founder and his approach to product design. As someone who has dedicated a large part of his life to the study of creativity, I was once again impressed. I have several of their products because they are one of the first brands I turn to when I need something they can do. All of this shows that I had high hopes for this little device. The first spiralizer I tried was on a Hamilton Beach food processor, it was very simple and worked very well. My daughter, who works here as a cook in a very nice restaurant, showed me how they use it to serve salads and prepare side dishes. My simple goal when setting up was to make thin strips of carrot for the carrot salad. After some prep, I had less than an ounce of shredded carrots and 2 pieces that were broken in half and no longer usable in the spiralizer. I thought maybe it was too complicated even though they demonstrate with turnips in their video. I tried again with potatoes. In short, the same thing happened. The video only shows the potato spinning on a spindle. In the 4th photo you can see that the potato has punctured the core so that it could no longer hold it. Only works with zucchini? For me personally, it's no use if it can't "process" carrots or potatoes. much more expensive than other spiralizers that actually work
