This jacket was more comfortable than other options - other jackets had rolls of material under the arms that rubbed while kayaking. This one fits better and wasn't a problem. It kept me warm when I tested it in 50 degree water for about 15 minutes < I was comfortable and would probably stay in that position for another 10 or 15 minutes. 50 degrees is really too cold for a 3mm swimsuit, but I only use it when absolutely necessary to get to shore quickly - I paddle in sheltered shallow water close to shore. I did get a little hot paddling, but I was able to unzip it a little to keep myself cool on a regular basis. It goes well with the trousers of this brand. I'm 5ft 2in, 140. If I was much taller there might not have been much overlap but at my height the jacket hugged my hips and stayed up very well over my pants. I prefer these 2 pieces to one piece for ease of entry and exit.
