Review on πŸ”₯ Enhanced Cardone 84-17423 New High-Energy Ignition (HEI) Electronic Distributor and Module by Melvin Man

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Easy job, part works great. (Don't forget to set the time after replacement)

I had a crank, no problem starting my '98 Integra LS. I removed the distributor cap and saw that I had the Red Dust of Death, meaning the bearing in the distributor ate itself. (looks like tiny crushed rust particles) After researching what else the problem could be, I found out from the dust and symptoms that it was probably a dead distributor. The hardest part was figuring out that the clip holding the wires to the distribution had to be inserted prior to unplugging the connector. If I had to do it again, it would take 10 minutes (no time adjustment). The car no longer starts at all. Just turn the key and BAM, it works before you know what happened. From what I remember it started 1/2 second before the engine started. Now turn the key and it turns on like a light switch. With a Prime membership and a 1-day item in my area, I ordered at 7:44pm and it appeared in my Revain locker at 11am the next day. Good. I think with the surcharges for mechanical parts that I didn't have to tow and pay $60-$75 (or more) for diagnostics, I saved almost $200 before even adding a masterpiece , which would have cost an actual replacement. . The part paid off with what I had saved. Nice piece, came with the distributor cap and rotor already installed, ignition coil installed and it has o-rings inside where it attaches to the block which is good because it looks like my old one is leaking a bit. Also, the same part with the same part number is $100 more expensive at Summit Racing - and they estimate it won't even ship in two weeks.
