Revainrating 5 out of 5

Quality OE fit for parts

2008 Cobalt, 2.2LS, 55,000 miles. Code P0411. First check the 40A fuse. The location is clearly marked on the back of the "Air Injection Pump" fuse box or something like that, I don't remember exactly. It's green and costs about $7, so don't throw in too many of these baddies. If it burned out, you most likely need this pump. This lift isn't a difficult task, if you're doing it lying on your back like I did, it's a little harder. It is located at the front of the engine block between the air conditioning compressor and the starter. The hardest part is removing the air hoses. Anyway the best way for me is to unplug the electrical connector then drop 3 bolts and the pump far enough to grab the pipes, push and pull and it falls right out. If you find water dripping from an old pump, you can be sure it exploded. But it also means that your EGR valve (breather valve) is likely defective as well. If you don't replace them soon, your new pump won't last very long. I put a very light coat of grease on the air duct fittings during installation, they snapped into place so you know they are installed correctly. Reinstall the 3 mounting screws with some anti-seize on the threads, connect the electrical connector with some dielectric grease and you're done. By the way, don't forget to install a new fuse if you need one.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Good but not great
