I have seen many recent reviews of the new MasterGel Maker 2020-21 Thermal Grease. to distribute. To further exacerbate the issue, there also appears to have been a change in wording from the 2019 version to the newer 2020-21 version, where the consistency of the new 2020-21 thermal compound is similar to that of a warm chewing stick. compared to more traditional thermal paste formulations that are much easier to apply (e.g. Noctua NT-H1, Gelid GC-Extreme, Arctic MX-4, Artic Silver 5, etc.). But unfortunately, it seems like Cooler Master hasn't educated its customers enough about this new formula and how best to use it. However, a quick search of another online store revealed that according to Cooler Master (see same product) this paste should be as thick as chewing gum. So, given this answer, I gave it a try as I'm optimistic that long-term performance will be good, especially for GPU-based applications. I've tried many thermal pastes on GPUs in the past (e.g. Noctua NT-H1, Gelid GC-Extreme, Arctic MX-4) and they typically last 6-8 months to drying and GPU load temperature. rises 5-10°C higher than when applying fresh thermal paste. So I thought maybe Cooler Master got the right idea with their new 2020-21 version because <Roll Safe, Finger Tapping Head Meme> thermal paste can't dry if it's already dry</meme>. So I applied this gum in a tube: (1) squeeze a little at a time, (2) press down on the surface to make sure what's left sticks to the surface (e.g. the surface of a GPU chips). and (3) moving one to two millimeters across the surface. Steps (1) through (3) were repeated until the entire surface was covered, albeit with some moderate difficulty. After that this product works really well, about as well as Noctua NT-H1, Gelid GC-Extreme and Arctic MX-4 on my overclocked MSI Duke 1070 ti (+120% power cap, +175MHz GPU and +450MHz RAM). So far (3.5 months since application) MasterGel Maker's performance has remained fairly stable ie 72-75°C at 100% GPU load with Furmark and 60% GPU fan speed at room temperature between 22-26°C. Hopefully helps. !
