Review on Malco CR18 Economy Hand Riveter by Chris Pollreisz

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very easy to use for any gorilla

Requires male hands to use, mainly due to the fact that the handle opens very wide. Sweet lady, we're hardly coming. There are a lot of these in our school HVAC classroom. Their design reminds me of a rifle bolt. If you get jammed, break it like a gun. (By the way, I'm not an archer, just an old foot soldier.) It took my father's 20 year old riveter about 6-7 pinches to loosen a rivet. It took two. Thus, the force required is greatly increased, but the time is greatly reduced. Because the rivet works faster, it also prevents the rivet from sinking into the wood as much. Yes, you should use shims on wood, but I've had a few instances where the shim wouldn't stay in place. The old gun gradually pulled the rivet through the wood. This male rivet gun knocks out the rivet before it can penetrate deep into the surface.

Pros
  • Not only useful for its intended purpose
Cons
  • Has disadvantages
