I would recommend removing all hoses and getting a K&N.
Perfect fit for my 2006 BMW X3 3.0. If your warranty has expired, however, I would recommend removing all hoses and buying a K&N cone filter instead. However, you can't go wrong with this brand. The quality is significantly higher than the competition. It's also nice to know I'll never have to buy one again as you can just clean it every 50,000 miles :) so it pays off in the long run.
