Decent quality for the price

I bought this camera for our son to use for distance learning on our big TV (we hooked up one of our old computers to it). The chamber is quite small, but the base takes up about twice as much space. The base has a nice rubber backing for a good grip, possibly the same material as the reusable lint collectors I had in the 90's. I had no problems installing plug and play. I'm still using my Logitech HD 1080P camera which is about 10 years old so I'll do some comparisons. The field of view of the new webcam is significantly larger than that of Logitech. The fisheye lens also causes significant distortions at the edges of the image. The picture is significantly clearer, but also sharper than with Logitech. This webcam does not have a focus function and therefore cannot take close-up photos. I played around with the settings in the Windows Camera Pro app and Logitech offered a manual focus option, but this one didn't. I've posted two photos to show the comparison of the two. The first is from Logitech, the second from this camera. Given that this camera is over half the price of current new Logitech cameras (although I paid about the same for my old one), I'd say it's a worthwhile investment. If you need a webcam for high-contrast close-ups, I would generally avoid it, as it doesn't bring out the features of a human face in such conditions. However, it works great for larger and wider shots (not shown).

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
