I used them with a small battery dent, twice in use they fell apart (13mm then 10mm). This can be a disaster when working on an engine, with small pieces of metal flying all over the place. The tape holding everything together just pushes in, it doesn't stay put when you use it. 5 of these found the tape holding the rest in place, we welded the metal tape to the base to keep it from slipping and sliding off causing them to fall apart when that happened. They fell apart so quickly and with so little use that I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. to save money and buy a better kit, i gave what was left of the kit to another novice technician.
