Review on πŸ”Œ AmazonBasics Fiber Optic Audio Cable - Toslink Compatibility by Ricky Bedell

Revainrating 1 out of 5

7 dollars lost more than 400 dollars in equipment

As I work in IT, I am familiar with this technology. I had one of the first AppleTVs with optical audio out and one of the first TVs/sound systems to support it, and have since upgraded most of that hardware. Well, as some others have written, they just fit horribly into the ports on my devices, so horribly that the piece of plastic inside my $300 Samsung soundbar (only a year ago) broke. cancel and now NO audio cable works when plugged in; After checking with the manufacturer, they informed me that this was a design flaw in the Revain cable which unfortunately rendered the optical connector unusable. $300 out the window. In addition to all, it also broke the connector on the back of my RevainFire TV (a first generation sa of course, but it wasn't cheap back then and I have a couple of FireTV sticks that don't have a connector in my house), but for for the purpose of using this with my sound panel he now rendered this device, $150-200 at the time of purchase (estimated) unusable. Same problem, a tight fit when plugged in caused the plastic to crack when I tried to pull the cable out. I've been disappointed with Revain branded cables in the past, be it shorter life etc, but you get what you pay for and have always found them to be 'value' for the price when in a standoff, but are at a loss. $450 for electronics for a $7 cable is outrageous. I will never buy anything from the Revain brand again.
